I found this out by looking to see if there was any water in the ice maker mold. I found none so suspected a water problem. I like to look or feel the water line where the water comes into the ice maker and look for ice. If i see ice I’m automatically looking at a weeping water valve. If you have a newer model I would look into replacing the filter first to see if that will take care of it. On this older model i was not even thinking about it because I have seen so many. Water valve is the issue. We go ahead and replace the water valve. W10408179, pretty easy to do. Once that is replace we have to clear that ice and i have a good tip in the video for you on how to clear that ice. Once ice is cleared we need to cycle the ice maker and have it fill to make sure we have cleared out all the ice. It may work if you just leave it alone from there but as a technician I like to know if it’s fixed right then and there. To cycle the ice maker you need to unplug the unit. Take the cover off to the ice maker and jump between the t/h holes to start it. Now there is no power not the unit. You plug the unit back in and make sure the door switch are shut and the emitter receiver are seeing each other. If door is open and the emitter receiver think the tub is full it will not send power to the ice maker. Once that is good plug the unit back in and within a few seconds the ice maker should power back on and it starts to cycle. Take the jumper wire out and put the cover back on and reinstall the ice maker. Once it is in. You simply wait for the ice maker to make its round. If it fills at the end you job here is done. Shut the water off to the house. 2. Locate the nearest cold water line and determine its location compared to the location of the fridge. 3. With that in mind, pull out the fridge and drill down with a feeler bit as close to the cold water line as possible. 4. Use the feeler bit to determine the best location to drill for the water line. Drill the hole. 5. Carefully uncoil the copper tubing and run it through the hole and close to the water line. 6. Determine where the water line will be cut. Clean that area with the abrasive cloth and cut it with a pipe cutter. Have a bucket ready to catch any water that comes out. 7. Once it’s dry, apply flux to the outside of the T and the inside of the pipe and the multi turn shut off valve. 8. Fit the pipe, the T, and the shutoff valve together and solder it. 9. Connect the _” copper tubing to the other side of the shutoff valve with the compression connection. 10. Go back to the fridge and uncoil the rest of the copper tubing. Leave extra slack high on the fridge so that it can still be easily moved in and out. 11. Find the opening in the back of the fridge to receive the copper tubing and screw it into place. 12. Put the fridge back in the opening and turn the water back on. Reason #1 - Water Fill Tubes: If you inspect the ice maker storage for ice cubes and there are none or they are small, then check the water fill system to see if there are issues. Disconnect the power to the fridge and disconnect the water supply. Then, inspect the fill tube and the fill cup to ensure that there is no ice buildup, foreign object interference, or other damage or issues. The Ice/Berg shell ice making machine creates a type of ice called Shell Ice (sometimes referred to as cracked ice). Shell ice differentiates itself in its superior usability. Shell ice keeps its superior handling characteristics for a longer period of time, helping to increase the productivity of the ice handlers. Operator The operator has full control of the thickness of the ice between 1/8" to 5/8" to suit particular requirements. Maintenance • No cutters or scrapers that are susceptible to failure during ice harvesting • Rugged construction: all components that contact the water/ice are either built from stainless steel or food grade plastic, allowing ice to be made from fresh water or sea water without any changes to the machine • All components that require regular maintenance are easily accessible and removable • Most replacement components are available through local refrigeration contractors and supply houses. Bottom Line The major cost contributor when producing ice is the cost of electricity. An Ice/Berg shell ice machine produces ice more efficiently than other ice machines, requiring less electricity per ton of ice to operate.

The cycle then automatically repeats itself. The flexibility of being able to choose ice thickness is important for some operators – as can the choice of using a softer, colder salt or sea water ice. This system can be used to compress and recover natural gas liquids for the oil industry that would normally be burned off. Don Berggren, President of Berg Chilling Systems, says that this system can help meet climate targets in North America. This system will help by reducing the amount of flare gas burned by oil sites. “We take that gas stream, capture it, compress it, and cool the gas down; down to about -40 degrees. In that process, we’re liquefying the carbons and the C3+’s and capture things like propane, butane, and hexane which are then trucked off-site. The dry residue gas can then be used for power generation on-site to reduce the operators use of diesel. The gas can be compressed, then liquefied for LNG processes. So actually, all the methane can be diverted from the atmosphere.” (Don Berggren) GTUIT, based in Montana, teamed up with Berg, which creates the refrigeration technology that is at the core of this unit. The advantage to the system is they're designed to be scalable. Units can be added or taken away units to maximize the operations. Even though the oil industry is known to be a bit conservative, they have been very receptive towards this new technology. As Don explains in the video, they all want to be green and good stewards of the environment, and Berg is pleased to provide them with a technology that works to achieve that goal. Bergs current focus has been in North Dakota and Montana but are confident and ready to come to Canada and help operators here as well. The advantage of coming into the Canadian market now is that they have a proven solution. “We can point to 30 operations in the states. Over the last three years, We’ve captured over 23 million gallons of natural gas liquids; diverted 5 billion standard square feet of flare gas and eliminated almost 200, 000 tonnes of C02 from the atmosphere.” (Don Berggren) With these refrigeration systems in place, there isn’t a reason for flaring. Unless, however, there’s an upset condition. If some of the equipment fails, then, of course, they’ll have to have a flare. But under normal operation, the condensed gasses can be collected and moved off-site. Berg Chilling Systems doesn’t just cater to the oil industry, however.
