Abstract

The report predicts that the challenges in developing completely stretchable electronic material have opened up avenues for hybrid materials which are combination of stretchable conductors used as electrical interconnects along with bendable or rigid materials. Stretchable electronics, also referred to as elastic circuits or elastic electronics or elastronics, is a technology that stresses on developing electronic circuits by embedding stretchable electronic circuits and devices in stretchable materials such as polyurethanes or silicones, or depositing them onto stretchable substrates. Another emerging concept in the stretchable electronics technology is directed towards achieving the desired stretchable properties by developing novel structural configuration of existing materials.
